Registration open for the Weinstein Cardiovascular Conference
January 17th, 2014
Organizing this conference is a great honor, and highlights the Center's growing international profile, with the CNIC seeing off competition from an institute in Shanghai. The CNIC's candidature, led by José Luis de la Pompa, was presented in 2011 by the Cardiovascular Development and Repair Department, and enjoyed institutional backing from important Spanish bodies including the Madrid regional government and the Spanish Society of Developmental Biology. The CNIC joins a select club of prestigious centers that have held the conference since 1994, including the universities of Harvard (2003) and Chicago (2012) in the USA and Leiden Medical University (2004) and the University of Amsterdam (2010) in the Netherlands.
After two years of demanding preparation, registration for the 2014 Weinstein Conference is now open: from now until February 16 predoctoral and postdoctoral researchers can register at the special price of €150, whereas registration for other participants is €270. From 17 February, the special price increases to €200 and the standard fee to €350. After 16 April the fee for all registrations will be €450.
The Weinstein Cardiovascular Conference will be held at the Ilustre Colegio Oficial de Médicos de Madrid, and although the program has yet to be published, the list of key speakers has been finalized: Ralf Adams of the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine; Angela Nieto of the Instituto de Neurociencias CSIC-UMH, San Juan de Alicante, Spain; and CNIC director Valentín Fuster.
