Webcast: Public forum with North America's environment ministers on community, ecosystem resilience

Visit http://www.cec.org/webcast on Wednesday, July 11, and join a public forum with North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) Council members: US Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson, Canadian Environment Minister Peter Kent, and Mexican Environment Secretary Juan Elvira Quesada.

The webcast will kick off at 9 a.m. Central Daylight Time with the results of the July 9 and 10 Joint Public Advisory Committee workshop on Resilient Communities in North America. Hear what key sustainability practitioners, community leaders and concerned citizens from across North America had to say about how the continent's communities can build resilience to environmental shifts like climate change, and disasters like the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Then at 1:45 p.m. the public forum with the ministers will begin. During the first portion they'll hear from three CEC community-based projects, one from each of the three countries. After each short presentation there will be time for questions from the audience and the online community watching the webcast. During the second portion the ministers will open the floor to respond to questions sent in advance by video as well as live questions from the audience and from the online community. Finally, to close the public session, the ministers will share the details of new guidelines for the CEC's Citizen Submission on Enforcement Matters process and take questions.
