Survey asks how much alcohol we drink at home

Researchers at the University of Bath are asking people across the UK to take part in a short online survey about drinking habits at home.

The survey is part of a research project that is investigating the effects of the Government’s proposed introduction of a minimum price for alcohol.

Matthew Jones, who is leading the research in the University’s School of Management, said: “The alcohol strategy under consideration by the Home Office will push up the sale price of alcohol in supermarkets, off-licences and local shops and we want to investigate the impact of this on what people drink at home.

“The questions are very straightforward and are just designed to get a picture of how drinking habits at home might change if prices go up. They should take no more than 10 minutes.

“We’ll be combining the results with economic data to actually put a figure on the effect, and will present this to Government later this year.

“This is a really topical piece of research on a Government policy that has a wide impact and we would be very grateful if people are able to spare a bit of time to take part.”

The online survey is running until the end of July. Participants can enter a free prize draw for the chance to win a £250 and £100 Amazon gift card.
