Springer will publish book series with British Society for Immunology

September 26th, 2012

Springer and the British Society for Immunology (BSI) have entered into an agreement to publish six books per year, to be included in Springer's long-running book series, Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology. The edited volumes and monographs by renowned scientists will present the latest scientific advances in immunology research.

The books will cover fields relevant to the work of immunologists, from HIV/AIDS to allergies, diabetes, malaria, TB, animal health, arthritis, transplantation, cancer, genetics, vaccination and infectious disease. BSI will have editorial control over the content of the books and will be responsible for acquiring and commissioning the works. Springer will handle production, marketing, sales and distribution. The books will be available as eBooks on Springer's online platform SpringerLink (link.springer.com) and in print (POD).

Judith Willetts, Chief Executive of the British Society for Immunology, said, "The BSI is very excited about this new publishing initiative with Springer and the opportunity it presents. Immunology cuts across all areas of biomedical research and practice. This book series will enable us to disseminate the best of our members' research to new readers, and to showcase the quality, diversity and importance of their work."

Andrea Macaluso, Editorial Director Biomedicine at Springer, said, "Springer is privileged and pleased to have the opportunity of partnering with the British Society for Immunology. We see great value in publishing these new books on cutting-edge research in immunology. Scientists all over the world will benefit from the content, and the books will complement and expand Springer's portfolio in this field."
