Susan E. Fox has been selected to be the next Executive Director of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA). She begins her service with the ASA as Executive Director-designate on 1 November and will assume the title of Executive Director on January 1, 2014.

Susan said: "I am honored to be selected by the ASA executive director search committee to serve this great association and profession. ASA has a multitude of strengths that bode well for our future. Top among them is an engaged and committed membership, great leadership at many levels, from the ASA Executive Council, the Technical Council, Committees, Standards, to Regional Chapters, and a very talented and motivated staff. I look forward to the months and years ahead as we forge a future that will enable us to thrive in a challenging yet most exciting environment."

Susan Fox recently served as the Executive Director of the Arctic Research Consortium of the U. S. (ARCUS). Her earlier positions included Vice President of the Forbes Group, Executive Director of the American Association of Law Libraries, Executive Director of the Society of American Archivists, and positions at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War.

Susan Fox received a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Boston University in 1976 and a Master of Science in Public Affairs in 1992 from the McCormick Graduate School for Public Affairs at the University of Massachusetts. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Association Executives.

James H. Miller, President of the ASA, noted Ms. Fox's significant experience as an executive director. "Susan brings a professional approach to the job, and puts the Acoustical Society in position to grow its membership in both the US and abroad, further strengthen our journals, and promote the Society's mission of diffusing knowledge of acoustics and its practical application," he said.
