Gut Microbiota for Health World Summit: 2014 March 8 & 9, Miami, FL

One of the most exciting new areas of research today is the gut microbiome. The microbial communities that reside in the human gut and their impact on human health and diseases are a rapidly expanding area of research—full of exciting discoveries with potential medical applications.

To address the most recent advances in the field, scientists and health-care professionals will come together at the Gut Microbiota for Health World Summit, which is hosted by the Gut Microbiota & Health Section of the European Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility and the AGA Institute, with the support of Danone Dairy.

Through lectures and interactive workshops, the summit will explore the role of the human gut microbiota in digestive and overall health. Among others, the summit will address the following questions:

  • In what way does the gut microbiota influence functional bowel disorders?
  • How is the gut microbiota involved in the development of the metabolic syndrome?
  • Can diet and probiotics have a positive effect on mental health?
