Final agenda available for CRF Conference on Stem Cell Therapy for Heart Disease

January 8th, 2014

WHAT:

The final agenda for the Conference on Cell Therapy for Cardiovascular Disease, sponsored by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation, is now available online at http://www.crf.org/celltherapy/the-conference/agenda. The conference, which will be held January 22-24, 2014, is the premier meeting dedicated to the evolving field of cell-based therapies for the repair and regeneration of cardiac and vascular disease, as well as related diseases such as diabetes and stroke.

This year's conference will focus on preclinical and clinical studies and their paths toward optimizing outcomes. The most promising molecular, cellular, and tissue products will be presented. Presentations of key activities at state, federal, and international levels will also be highlighted as measures of the progress ahead.

WHY:

Recent advances in stem cell research demonstrate great potential as breakthrough therapies for conditions like diabetes, Parkinson's and heart disease. Now in its 13th year of clinical trials, the application of stem cells in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases has provided both a strong foundation for the conduct of large scale, pivotal studies, as well as insights into mechanisms of cardiovascular repair that will enhance the design of further investigation.

Renowned thought leaders in this field will convene to present their work, experiences, observations, and opinions on the benefits and unmet challenges of cell-based therapies. Sessions will focus on:

  • Molecular and Cellular Pathways: Regulating Biologic Function
  • Mechanistic Insights and Hypothesis
  • Moving Toward Tissue as Therapy: Micro- and Macro-Structure Strategies
  • STEMI and Acute Injury Studies
  • Chronic Injury and Vascular Insufficiency
  • Chronic Left Ventricular Dysfunction and Heart Failure
  • Patients-In-Need: Defining and Refining our Approach to Target Populations
  • Data in Hand: Looking for Answers in Meta-Analytic Studies
  • Clinical Science and Pivotal Studies: Durable Partnerships in Regenerative Medicine
