2014 ASMCUE and ASM General Meeting collaborate to offer the latest in teaching and research
The 21st Annual American Society for Microbiology Conference for Undergraduate Educators (ASMCUE) will take place on May 15-18, 2014, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Boston North Shore in Danvers, Mass. The 4-day conference offers the opportunity to network with leading microbiology and biology faculty and researchers while learning and sharing cutting-edge scientific updates and effective teaching strategies.
This year ASMCUE expands its collaborative program with the nearby ASM General Meeting (asm2014) in Boston. The joint program will continue the collaborations traditionally offered ASMCUE attendees: a field trip to the asm2014 opening keynote session and reception on May 17 and a discounted one-day session pass for May 18. Added to the partnership is a joint interactive lecture where the asm2014 "NextGen Microbiologist" plenary session will be live-streamed to ASMCUE on May 18. The session will be facilitated onsite in Danvers, and participants will be able to ask questions via social media.
The conference will feature Nobel laureate Carl E. Wieman, Ph.D., University of British Columbia, and several other eminent scientists who will offer key research and education insights:

Other ASMCUE highlights include concurrent scientific sessions featuring lectures on current topics in biology and science education given by the leaders in the field; topical sessions on classroom-tested tools and resources for advancing in pedagogy, scholarship, research design, methodology, and assessment; and microbrew sessions where attendees share ideas and thoughts on best practices in microbiology and biology education. In addition, participants will have multiple opportunities to see poster presentations in biology education research, visit with higher education vendors, network with colleagues, and learn about new professional development activities.
