Research conference on child and family policy
The Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) will hold a meeting at the Hilton Alexandria Old Town April 3 - April 5, 2014. This meeting focuses on Strengthening Connections Among Child and Family Research, Policy and Practice. Leading researchers from around the world will be presenting findings from the latest research on children and families and the programs and policies affecting them.
Some of the presentations that might interest reporters will focus on:
- Putting the science of early education into practice
- Research and policy connections in education, home visiting, and teen pregnancy
- Evaluating Obama's evidence-based initiatives
- Strengthening the connections between incarcerated teen fathers and their children
- Changing the way we think about children facing adversity through advances in neuroscience, molecular biology, and epigenetics
- Federally subsidized food programs and child health
- Preventing violence in the lives of children
All presentations at this meeting will be embargoed for release on Thursday, April 3, 6:00 am Eastern. Reporters are encouraged to search the program for additional newsworthy presentations.
