Entomological Society of America names 2009 award winners
ESA is pleased to announce the winners of its 2009 awards. Professional awards will be presented at the Opening Plenary Session of the ESA Annual Meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana, Sunday, December 13, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Student awards will be presented on Tuesday, December 15, 7:00-8:00 p.m.

- Honorary Member — Dr. Shripat T. Kamble, University of Nebraska-Lincoln
- Distinguished Achievement Award in Extension — Dr. Michael J. Raupp, University of Maryland at College Park
- Distinguished Achievement Award in Horticultural Entomology — Dr. Timothy D. Paine, University of California, Riverside
- Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching — Dr. Carol M. Anelli, Washington State University
- Distinguished Service Award to the Certification Program — Dr. James E. Cilek, Florida A&M University
- Early Career Innovation Award — Dr. James D. Harwood, University of Kentucky
- Nan-Yao Su Award for Innovation and Creativity in Entomology — Dr. Anthony A. James, University of California, Irvine
- Recognition Award in Entomology — Dr. Bradley A. Mullens, University of California, Riverside
- Student Activity Award — Gregory J. Wiggins, University of Tennessee
- Student Certification Award — Timothy J. Husen, University of Nebraska-Lincoln
John Henry Comstock Graduate Student Awards — These awards promote interest in entomology at the graduate level and stimulate interest in attending the ESA Annual Meeting. The following 2009 winners were selected by each of the five ESA Branches:
