Rossi Foundation pledges $1M for JAX neurobehavioral research center
The Jackson Laboratory has received a pledge of $1 million from the Cornelia Cogswell Rossi Foundation to support and name the Laboratory's new Neurobehavioral Biometry Center.
The newly established Connie Cogswell Rossi Neurobehavioral Biometry Center will enable the Laboratory to develop a greater breadth and depth of knowledge of neurobehavioral testing, with the ultimate goal of accelerating the pace of research to improve human health.
The new Center will serve as a premier resource for the Laboratory and its external partners, supporting research to enhance progress in understanding and developing treatments for a wide range of neurological and neurobehavioral disorders, including Alzheimer's, autism and addiction.
Using collaborative, multidisciplinary approaches and state-of-the-art technologies, the Center will allow scientists to assess behavior as it relates to disease characteristics and therapy responses, and to create a comprehensive database of neurobehavioral information unlike any other that will be made available to the international research community. This facility will place The Jackson Laboratory at the forefront of mammalian neuroscience research and make JAX a magnet for training scientists from universities, industry and research institutions all over the world.

The Foundation was established to continue the philanthropic vision of Connie Rossi, a longtime friend of the Laboratory. "Connie Cogswell Rossi believed that the future of biomedical research could be found at The Jackson Laboratory," said Charles Kaufmann, president of the Foundation. "The Cornelia Cogswell Rossi Foundation is proud to continue Connie's philanthropic legacy through this gift to advance neurobehavioral research at the Laboratory."
