Elsevier to publish the official journal of the Society for Investigative Dermatology
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services and the Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID) have announced that they have entered into a publishing agreement . Beginning in January 2016 Elsevier will publish the Journal of Investigative Dermatology (JID), the official journal of the SID and the European Society for Dermatological Research (ESDR) and the most-cited journal in the field of dermatology.
Published since 1938, JID contains original research papers and review articles on all aspects of cutaneous biology and skin disease. Its popular JID Connector provides resources of direct clinical relevance to the dermatology and skin biology communities.
"We looked at the support and creative partnership potential of several different publishers in our selection process, and found that Elsevier is clearly the best publisher to continue building the journal" said Alice Pentland, MD, Secretary Treasurer of SID.
Barbara A. Gilchrest, MD, who has served as JID Editor since 2012, said, "The editorial team is very excited at the opportunities presented by our transition to Elsevier. With its extensive portfolio of dermatology journals and its technical sophistication, Elsevier can facilitate our outreach to residents and clinician educators while providing excellent guidance and support for all aspects of the journal."
Under the publishing agreement JID intends to maintain and strengthen its first-place position among the 61 dermatology journals included in ThomsonReuters Journal Citation Reports database.
"Elsevier is delighted to be working with the SID and ESDR," commented Anne Kitson, Executive Vice President, Health and Medical Science Journals at Elsevier. "We look forward to building on the JID's strong reputation within the skin disease community and to supporting its continued outreach and growth."
