August 24th, 2015

The world's premier scientific event focussed on creating a cleaner, safer and healthier environment for humanity will get under way in Melbourne on Sunday, September 13.

CleanUp 2015, the 6th International Contaminated Site Remediation Conference, is being held at the Crown Conference Centre, Melbourne, from September 13-16, 2015.

CleanUp 2015 is an international scientific and industry conference aimed at stemming the growing global tide of toxic contamination from all sources, the risks these contaminants pose to human and cleaning up the legacy of past industrial development. It features a line-up of the world's top scientists and engineers in the field and is hosted by Australia's Cooperative Research Centre for Contamination Assessment and Remediation of the Environment (CRC CARE).

A highlight of the conference will be a session on globalCARE, the Australian-led world scientific initiative to diagnose and find ways to curb the growing impact of chemical contamination on human health and the Earth's biosphere (see www.crccare.com/knowledge-sharing/globalcare).

Other highlights of the 2015 conference program include:
- Human health impacts of toxic chemicals in fish
- International advances in on-site clean-up technologies
- How solar power is helping to clean up contaminated soil and water
- Ways to renew our old, polluted cities
- Emerging chemicals of concern for human health
- New ways to clean up fracking chemicals
