RDA Data Share program announces fellowship awards

RDA Data Share , an early career engagement program for the Research Data Alliance/US (RDA/US) , is pleased to announce its selection of the 2016 cohort of Fellows.

The Data Share program, formed in 2015 through grant funding from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, selects Fellows to engage with, study and contribute to the RDA. Its objective is to strengthen the careers of scholars and their institutions in data science and data sharing through engagement with the large, international community of RDA.

The program benefits RDA through the energy, expertise, and efforts of the Fellows.

The RDA Data Share Fellowship review committee received a large number of strong applications, and based on applicants' expertise and interests, as well as on potential benefits to individual careers and to the RDA, the program awarded 14 fellowships - almost a doubled increase compared to the previous year.

"This is another strong cohort of Fellows coming from a range of STEM disciplines, information and library science, and humanities," stated Professor Beth Plale from Indiana University School of Informatics and Computing, program director and principal investigator on the grant. "They clearly demonstrate a passion for data and open science."

Fellows begin their term in May 2016, with the duration of the fellowship ranging between 12 and 18 months. They will work on their own proposed projects and collaborate with one of over 70 working and interest groups in RDA.
