Chronic total occlusion strategies will be discussed during national summit February 4-5

January 13th, 2010

WHAT:
The complete agenda for the Seventh International Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO) Summit is now available online at http://www.ctosummit.org/overview/agenda.html. The CTO Summit is a two-day conference featuring state-of-the-art technologies, research findings and new developments in therapeutic procedures essential for interventional cardiologists to optimize success in chronic total coronary occlusions. Highlights from this year's agenda include:

  • CTO Revascularization: An Evidence Basis For Improving Clinical Outcomes and Global Trends
  • CTO Fundamentals: What Every Interventionalist Should Know
  • The Retrograde Forum: Advanced Techniques
  • The Antegrade Forum: Advanced Techniques
  • Adjunctive CTO Imaging: Advanced Techniques
  • Expanding the CTO Toolbox: Novel Technologies
  • Live coronary CTO cases broadcast in high definition from Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation (La Jolla, CA) and Columbia University Medical Center (New York, NY)

Also for the first time this year, CRF will unveil CTO Live which will bring the live cases and featured lectures presented in New York directly to those who are not able to attend in person. For more information on subscribing, please visit http://www.ctosummit.org/cto-live.html.

WHY:
The Seventh International Chronic Total Occlusion Summit is the only dedicated live case demonstration CTO course in the United States, offering basic and advanced training to improve the skills of interventional cardiologists treating CTOs. Chronic total occlusions of coronary arteries represent one of the greatest challenges to interventional cardiologists. Successful revascularization of CTOs has been strongly associated with improved left ventricular function, freedom from angina, a reduced risk of revascularization and in several studies increased survival. Through new guidewires, novel devices, appropriate patient selection, and improved operator technique, the success rate for recanalization of complex CTOs is increasing.
