CIESE conference: 'Encouraging Students toward STEM and IT Careers,' Feb. 10
Stevens Institute of Technology's Center for Innovation in Engineering and Science Education (CIESE), along with the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association, the New Jersey School Counselor Association, and the New Jersey Department of Education will present a one-day conference titled "Encouraging Students toward STEM & IT Careers," February 10, 2010, 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the FEA Conference Center, 12 Centre Drive, Monroe Township, N.J. Registration is $95 to cover conference and luncheon for all attendees.
Organized to increase awareness of opportunities in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and IT (information technology) fields, this conference offers specific examples and strategies that illustrate pathways for all students, particularly women and underrepresented groups, to participate in the technical professions. It also offers a big picture view of the economic imperative to produce more STEM and IT graduates. Conference attendees will hear from students and successful practitioners in these fields about the academic challenges and rewards of their pursuit. Education professionals will have an opportunity to explore strategies for engaging teachers and students in STEM studies.
