ARRS webinar: Reducing interpretive errors in diagnostic imaging to improve patient safety

August 23rd, 2017

Interpretive errors in diagnostic imaging and their potential solutions, as well as a framework to improve patient safety, will be discussed in a September 20 webinar hosted by ARRS.

In the webinar, coauthors Drs. Stephen Waite, Elizabeth Krupinski, Jinel Moore Scott, and Brian Gale will discuss their American Journal of Roentgenology article, "Systemic Error in Radiology," published in the September 2017 issue of AJR.

  • WHO: Speakers: Stephen Waite, SUNY Downstate Medical Center; Elizabeth Krupinski, Emory University; Jinel Moore Scott, SUNY Downstate Medical Center; Brian Gale, SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Moderator: James Provenzale, Duke University Medical Center, section editor for the AJR Neuroradiology/Head and Neck Imaging section.
  • WHEN: Wednesday, September 20 at Noon Eastern Time.
  • WHAT: The study examines how interpretive errors in diagnostic imaging can result in significant patient morbidity and mortality, but the importance of errors and process failures in the imaging cycle other than during image interpretation is underappreciated. In the article, the authors describe these errors and potential solutions, providing a framework to improve patient safety and understand the changing roles of radiologists beyond image interpretation.
  • REGISTRATION: ARRS members may attend free of charge; nonmember price is $99. This AJR Live Webinar offers 1 CME Credit. Registration is required at arrs.org/ajrlive.
  • MEDIA REGISTRATION: For accredited media representatives wishing to view the webinar, contact Mike Mason, ARRS Communications Manager, at mmason@arrs or 703-858-4332.
