SAGE to publish the Journal of Histochemistry & Cytochemistry

February 9th, 2010

Los Angeles, London, New Delhi, Singapore and Washington DC -- SAGE has partnered with The Histochemical Society (HCS) to publish its official journal, the Journal of Histochemistry & Cytochemistry, beginning with volume 59 in 2011. John R. Couchman, Ph.D., the Danish National Research Foundation Professor at the University of Copenhagen, will assume the Editor-in-Chief position of the Journal at the same time.

The leading journal in the field, the Journal of Histochemistry & Cytochemistry publishes significant advances in visual techniques that provide biochemical and molecular information about the structure and function of cells, tissues, and organs.

"As a Society, HCS is devoted to fostering the development and application of histochemistry and cytochemistry in all realms of biological research. We further these goals through publishing and disseminating the leading research in the field today.," said, William L. Stahl, Executive Director. "We chose SAGE in part because of their partnership with HighWire Press, and because we found the staff creative, flexible and committed to helping us expand our reach and impact."

The Histochemical Society is an international society founded in 1950 by scientists passionate about the expansion of histochemical and cytochemical knowledge. The Society also funds the organization of scientific meetings and short courses, and offers the mentoring and promotion of a diverse group of scientists entering the discipline.

"We are excited to have been selected as HCS' new publishing partner and welcome the Journal of Histochemistry & Cytochemistry to our growing list of biomedical journals," said Jayne Marks, SAGE Vice-President, Journals. "This partnership will build on the excellent foundation the Society has created and will build on their creativity to further expand dissemination of the important work published in the journal. We know that continuing to publish the journal on the HighWire platform is important to HCS and we look forward to moving the journal onto the next generation of SAGE Journals Online."
