Media, small businesses invited to ACS Webinar on ways to take advantage of China's dynamic growth

News media, scientists and others interested in finance, entrepreneurships and the chemical sciences are invited to join an American Chemical Society (ACS) Small & Medium Business Webinar on learning about the political and cultural landscape of China to take advantage of the country's dynamic growth.

Scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 25, 2 - 3 p.m. EST, the free Webinar, "East Meets West: Global Opportunities in Asia Pacific" will feature Ronghui Gao, M.D., Business Development Director at BioBay. BioBay is an organization dedicated to building an integrated comprehensive platform for biotech, pharmaceutical and nanotech research and development in China.

Among the topics Gao will cover are:

  • Where the career and business opportunities in China are
  • Cultural and political insights to build a successful career in the Far East (China/Japan/Korea)
  • China transformation from manufacturing to high tech - tapping into the emerging market
  • How to capitalize resources from East and West and translate it into business opportunities
  • Strategies for U.S. scientists and companies to work successfully with companies in China

Gao worked as a quarantine doctor for seven years managing infectious diseases and
vaccination programs before he joined Nestlē as a regional manager in Shanghai for the sales and marketing team in the nutritional department. Relocating to UK, Ronghui consulted for AstraZeneca, GSK, and Novartis in areas of strategic marketing planning, new product launch, market research and Key Opinion Leaders management. Prior to joining BioBay in 2008, he returned to Shanghai, where he established a marketing consulting firm in the healthcare market to serve pharmaceutical companies including AstraZeneca, J&J and Sanofi-Aventis. Ronghui is currently a Business Development Director at BioBay. In this role, he works closely with a wide range of organizations and helps them set up their operations in China and facilitate their businesses by seeking funds and business partners, as well as government support. In addition to his medical degree, Ronghui holds an MBA from the Manchester Business School.
