Stevens to host Conference on Systems Engineering Research
HOBOKEN, N.J. ― Stevens Institute of Technology will host the annual Conference on Systems Engineering Research (CSER) from March 17 - 19, 2010.
Now in its 8 th year, the conference provides practitioners and researchers in academia, industry, and government with a common platform to present, discuss and influence Systems Engineering research.
During the conference original research papers addressing nearly every aspect of the Systems Engineering lifecycle will be presented. These papers include conception, design and architecting, development, modeling and simulation, production, integration, validation, operation and support of these systems.
On March 17, Dr. John Mather, a Nobel Laureate in Physics and Senior Project Scientist, James Webb Space Telescope will address the attendees during a dinner at the Babbio Center. Mather's research centers on infrared astronomy and cosmology.
The following evening Jeff Wilcox, Vice President, Engineering, Lockheed Martin Corporation will speak during a reception for attendees. Wilcox is responsible for developing and executing strategy for the Lockheed Martin Engineering Enterprise and its 71,000 engineers and scientists.
The conference will feature a number of additional speakers, including:
- Stephen P. Welby, Director, Systems Engineering, Department of Defense, Defense Research and Engineering (DDR&E)
- Dr. John C. Mather , Senior Astrophysicist, Observational Cosmology Laboratory, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, and Nobel Laureate in Physics.
- Lou Von Thaer , President, General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems
- Dr. John Boardman , Distinguished Service Professor, School of Systems and Enterprises, Stevens Institute of Technology
- Al Grasso , Chief Executive Officer, MITRE Corporation
- Dr. Petri Haavisto, Vice President for Architecture Management at Nokia Devices
- Grady Booch , IBM Fellow and Chief Scientist, Software Engineering, IBM Research
- Dr. Val Gavito , Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer, L3 Communications - Integrated Systems Group
CSER 2010 is organized by Stevens Institute of Technology and Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), in collaboration with the University of Southern California (USC).
On the day before the conference, The Systems Engineering Research Center (SERC)—a collaboration of 20 research institutions led by Stevens and Principal Collaborator USC— will present an information and answer questions about its creation, research strategy, resources, as well as recent and ongoing research activities.
