21st Century Pregnancy: You Only Need a Smartphone to Prepare for Childbirth
Ural Federal University traditionally organize startup accelerator in order to support young enterpreneurs. The participants of latest accelerator launched an online school for expecting mothers. "Ready Mama" is an online platform where obstetrician-gynecologists (holders of PhD in Medicine, well-known experts in the perinatal field) prepare future mothers for successful childbirth through online medical consultations, lectures, webinars, trainings.
According to the authors, their project should replace the classic offline schools and help prepare for childbirth without leaving home. In Russia, 2 million children are born every year, and more than 600 thousand of them have pathologies. The main reason for this is mistakes made in preparation for childbirth.
'The modern lifestyle of future mothers doesn't let them pay due attention to timely visits to hospitals, offline schools, and finding useful information on the Internet,' Vladimir Necheporuk, project co-founder, says. 'This is the problem that our Ready Mama application solves.'
In the process of learning, users (future mothers, fathers and grandparents) get the necessary information, undergo tests, and can ask an expert a question at any time. The learning program is organized in blocks corresponding to the periods of pregnancy.
The project was created by the resident physician Vladimir Necheporuk and IT developer Maxim Bondarenko. Now the founders are participants of the 10th season of the UrFU accelerator, where they develop and promote their project with the help of expert advice and mentors. The project team presented its innovative development at the finals of the Rusbase Young Awards, independent award in the field of student and school entrepreneurship on May 28, 2019.
