April 19th, 2010

The publication of the new book Advances in Wound Care, addresses this major and escalating health problem. The first in an annual book series, Volume 1 strengthens the interdisciplinary continuum of wound care to synchronize the numerous disciplines the wound care community represents. Advances in Wound Care (www.liebertpub.com/adwc), published by Mary Ann Liebert, Inc. (www.liebertpub.com) will make its debut today at the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care and Wound Healing Society (SAWC/WHS) Joint meeting going on in Orlando, Florida.

"For the scientist, this volume presents a digest of the clinical aspects of wound care," says Dr. Chandan K. Sen, Editor-in-Chief. "Such understanding should help improve the translational value of investigator-initiated research and inspire innovative directions. Basic scientists who advance the frontiers of fundamental sciences of wound healing, and wound care physicians, nurses, and staff will find the latest discoveries presented in a succinct format. The book also addresses industry-academia partnership, a key element in motivating inventions and in effectively rolling out novel therapies," notes Dr. Sen.

With our nation fighting multiple wars and generating a wealth of battleground experience, the opening volume of this book series spotlights military wound care. In-depth sections cover Acute Wounds, Dressings, Chronic Wounds, Inflammation, Biofilm, Oxygen and Angiogenesis, Gene and Protein-Based Therapies, Tissue engineering, Stem and Progenitor cells, Devices and Public-private Partnership.
