Media registration open for International Congress on Obesity

Excess body weight is a major risk factor for several chronic diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancer, making obesity one of the leading preventable causes of death worldwide. The condition is considered one of the most significant public health challenges of the 21st century.

The International Congress on Obesity provides a unique international forum for the presentation of new research on the entire spectrum of the obesity field, including:

  • The determinants and consequences of obesity
  • New options for treatment, prevention and public health intervention
  • Social and political issues relating to obesity
  • Prevalence and trends
  • Fat tissue activity
  • The latest thinking in diet, physical activity and behavior science

Media briefings have been scheduled for Monday 12 July, Tuesday 13 July and Wednesday 14 July.

Media Registration

The International Association for the Study of Obesity welcomes the interest of the media in obesity issues and is happy to provide full assistance to journalists attending ICO 2010. Registration is free of charge to journalists who are in possession of a valid, recognized press card. Freelance journalists must present a commissioning letter on headed paper from a recognized news outlet. All sessions are open to journalists. A fully equipped media workroom with computers, telephone lines and Internet connections will be available. NB: The official conference language is English.

Journalists must present the original of the press card or of the commissioning letter in person at the conference registration desk.

The 11th International Congress on Obesity (ICO) will take place at the Stockholm International Fair and Congress Centre. (http://www.stockholmsmassan.se)
