ESCEO-AMGEN Osteoporosis Fellowships awarded in Florence
Four ESCEO-AMGEN Osteoporosis Fellowships, each valued at USD 50,000, were awarded to young researchers working in Belgium, Canada, UK and Switzerland.
The following award winners, selected on the basis of their outstanding research proposals, were announced on the second day of the World Congress on Osteoporosis 2010 (IOF WCO-ECCEO10) taking place in Florence, Italy until May 8, 2010:
- Dr. Zoe Cole: The effect of maternal vitamin D status during pregnancy on post pubertal bone mass of the offspring
- Dr. Mickael Hiligsmann: International comparison of patients' and GPs' preferences for osteoporosis treatment: a discrete choice experiment
- Dr. Mohit Kapoor: Understanding the specific in vivo role of ephrin B2 system in the pathophysiology of osteoarthritis and osteoporosis using bone-specific ephrin B2 conditional knockout mice
- Dr. Andrea Trombetti, MD: Detection of new specific osteoporosis risk factors
The Fellowship Programme is offered by Amgen in cooperation with the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis (ESCEO). It aims to develop and enhance the opportunities for physicians or PhD's who are training for careers in osteoporosis, with the goal of furthering advances in clinical care and prevention.
