Optical Society to host optics and photonics congresses at karlsruhe meetings

June 15th, 2010

WHAT: The Optical Society's (OSA) Advanced Photonics Congress and Renewable Energy Congress

WHEN: 21-24 June 2010

WHERE: Karlsruhe-Messe und Kongress (Conference Center), Karlsruhe, Germany

MEETING HIGHLIGHTS:

The Optical Society (OSA) will host two optics and photonics meetings in Karlsruhe, Germany: The Advanced Photonics Congress (www.osa.org/Meetings/optics_an … ongress/default.aspx) and the Renewable Energy Congress (www.osa.org/Meetings/optics_an … _Energy/default.aspx), 21-24 June, at the Karlsruhe-Messe und Kongress. Both events will include a focus on technical breakthroughs in optics and photonics, including research affecting the areas of alternative energy and the environment.

The Advanced Photonics Congress includes five collocated topical meetings:

Optics Visualized Contest
Hosted by the Karlsruhe Student Chapter of the OSA --
Whereas on the one hand optics is evidently everything that is perceptible with the naked eye, there is much more to optics than what the eye can see. This contest is about making optics visible. The contest features and awards works that shed light on an aspect of this technologically and economically very important branch of science in an appealing and accessible way. Award presentations will be held Thursday, 24 June 2010 at the Congress.
