Faculty of 1000 welcomes new affiliate publisher

Faculty of 1000 (F1000) is delighted to announce that the University of Chicago Press has joined the F1000 Affiliate Program.

As an F1000 Affiliate Publisher, the University of Chicago Press will offer their readers free access to a selection of F1000 evaluations of University of Chicago Press journal articles.

Three F1000 evaluations will be published on the University of Chicago Press website each month, giving their readers access to expert opinions and perspectives on University of Chicago Press articles from the world's leading researchers and clinicians.

F1000 highlights and evaluates the top 2% of articles from among the wealth of biomedical literature published. F1000 draws on the expertise of over 9000 leading clinicians and researchers to provide expert commentaries on the latest scientific developments in the fields of Biology and Medicine, not only highlighting the best articles, but explaining why they are important.

Designed to give the scientific community easier access to F1000 evaluations, the F1000 Affiliate Program offers scientific societies and publishers free access to selected evaluations rated by the F1000 Faculty.

Commenting on the F1000 Affiliate Society and Publisher Program, Katherine Duff, Journals Marketing Manager for the University of Chicago Press, said: "We are delighted to be working with F1000 and look forward to offering our readers expert evaluations of articles published in our journals."

The University of Chicago Press is the latest scientific publisher to join the F1000 Affiliate Program. Existing affiliates include the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), The Royal Society and The Physiological Society.

F1000 is a unique online service that ranks biomedical articles across an array of specialist fields. Articles are selected by the international F1000 Faculty Members, who have been nominated by their peers as highly respected experts in their chosen fields. The Faculty uses a unique rating system to identify the highest quality papers and give these papers a rating of Recommended, Must Read or Exceptional, bringing to attention the most important papers and providing a valuable 'second opinion'. The F1000 service also features 'Hidden Jewels' - papers from lesser known journals that rank highly among F1000 experts.
