Expert explains the applications of neutron scattering

(PhysOrg.com) -- Mu-Ping Nieh of the Canadian Neutron Beam Centre, National Research Council Canada, will be on campus Friday to discuss the applications and recent developments of small angle neutron scattering.

The keynote speaker for the joint Physics & Astronomy and Chemical & Biochemical Engineering Colloquium, Nieh will present “Small angle neutron scattering - Its application on soft material research and recent development at CNBC” beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the Physics & Astronomy Building, Room 36.

Neutron scattering has become one of the most powerful techniques to study the structures and dynamics of the materials because of many advantages of neutrons, such as being non-destructive, capable of penetrating most of the materials, easy to vary contrast and possessing magnetic moment.
