Working as a researcher in a time of pandemic

April 28th, 2022

A video-interview with a post-doc from the CORONADX project features the experience of working as a scientist at the frontline of COVID-19 research

According to the State of Science Index Survey, people have become more aware of science since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Researchers have been centre-stage in the public debate in recent years.

But how have researchers experienced this challenging period?

We asked Sara Lado, young investigator for the European research project CORONADX, to shed light on this topic. She told us that the pandemic was characterised by mixed feelings: on the one hand the pride of being able to make a significant impact on people through her work, and on the other hand the fatigue caused by restrictions, remote working and the shortage of laboratory equipment.

Sara Lado is a biologist, performing genetics and genomics experiments in Prof. Steininger's lab, at the Medical University of Vienna.
