Unlocking the secrets of RNA biology with WIREs

August 16th, 2010

It is now clear that RNA plays a major role in cell biology, ranging from regulation to catalysis and structural organization, while also serving as an important tool in functional genomics. Now WIREs RNA, the latest title in the Wiley Interdisciplinary Review series is providing RNA experts and researchers not only with a title offering in-depth perspective into RNA biology, but also a framework to generate new insights and applications.

"In the 10 years since the sequencing of the Human Genome it has become clear that a molecular understanding of cellular processes requires more than a DNA blueprint," said Editor-in-Chief Jeff Wilusz from Colorado State University. "In particular the impact of RNA related processes on cell physiology has been firmly established."

"The impressive versatility of the RNA molecule in performing a variety of functions in the cells have truly made RNA biology a topic that crosses interdisciplinary boundaries in the life sciences."

WIREs, known fully as Wiley Interdisciplinary Reviews, are unique hybrid publications which emphasise the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in research and education.

Each title provides authoritative, encyclopaedic coverage of diverse scientific fields with high-quality reviews commissioned from international expert contributors. Each review article is fully citable and qualifies for abstracting, indexing and ISI ranking.

WIREs titles which are currently available include Climate change, Cognitive Science, Computational Statistics, Nanomedicine and Nanobiotechnology, and Systems Biology medicine, and now RNA.

Future titles covering Computational Molecular Science, Energy and Environment, Membrane Transport and Signalling, Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery and Developmental Biology are scheduled for launch in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
