AAP president discusses impact of health care reform

Judith S. Palfrey, MD, FAAP, president of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) will address attendees on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at the AAP National Conference and Exhibition in San Francisco. Dr. Palfrey's talk is from 10:30 to 11 a.m. PT at the Moscone Center.

Dr. Palfrey will discuss the impact health care reform policies have had on children, families and the pediatricians who care for them. The AAP has continually urged Congress to ensure that the Affordable Care Act and its regulations included universal access to health care for children, patient protections and a new emphasis on prevention. Dr. Palfrey will guide the audience through the needs of children for high-quality health care by discussing "policy through the eyes of the child." She will emphasize that the best health care involves a trusting relationship between a child and family, a health professional, and their community - through a medical home.
