TALOS project pre-selects 12 innovative solutions to enhance robotics and AI integration in PV and agriculture
TALOS has announced the pre-selection of 12 cutting-edge projects from its recent Open Call, aiming to enhance robotics and AI integration for safer and more efficient photovoltaic (PV) and agricultural operations across Europe.
The TALOS project, focused on addressing key challenges in photovoltaic (PV) operations sector through robotics and artificial intelligence, has successfully completed the evaluation of its Open Call. From an extensive pool of 166 applications received across Europe, 12 promising solutions have been pre-selected to receive funding and specialised support.
Launched on 30 September 2024 and closed on 3 December 2024, the TALOS Open Call sought innovative robotic and AI-driven solutions to enhance effective human-robot collaboration and adaptability across various operational scenarios. The selected proposals specifically aim to automate crucial operations and maintenance (O&M) tasks including monitoring, inspection, cleaning, and vegetation management, traditionally performed by human workers.
Starting in April 2025, the 12 pre-selected European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups will join the TALOS Support Programme for nine months, receiving technical guidance and expert assistance in engineering integration, testing, and validation from the TALOS consortium. These solutions will be demonstrated across three pilot scenarios: AgriPV, Floating PV, and Land-Based PV, reducing costs and significantly enhancing safety for O&M personnel.
The 12 pre-selected SMEs and start-ups are:
-
Adaptronics s.r.l. (Italy)—Project: FRUITURE
- Mercury Retrograde LDA (Portugal)—Project: CLARO XR
- Aerial Tools ApS (Denmark)—Project: BVLOS RAISI
- iKnowHow SA (Greece)—Project: ARAVI
- UAB Rediga (Lithuania)—Project: PVgrow
- Indymo B.V. (Netherlands)—Project: MooringScout
- Presence XR Solutions S.L. (Spain)—Project: TERRA
- Plegma Labs Technologikes Lyseis Anonymos Etairia (Greece)—Project: ATHINA
- Space Mobility P.C. (Greece)—Project: PERCEIVE
- Vertliner P.C. (Greece)—Project: EL-INSPECT
- Amigo S.r.l. (Italy)—Project: SUNNY
- Xilbi Sistemas de Información SL (Spain)—Project: EXPERT
Collectively, these projects will receive a total funding of EUR 1,800,000, aiming to deliver impactful autonomous solutions such as drone-based visual inspections, robotic PV panel cleaning, and automated vegetation management.
