THOR and Horizon Europe projects unite for an insightful webinar

TwinBATT Cluster webinar to introduce breakthroughs in battery testing and Innovation

THOR, in collaboration with DigiBatt, AccCellBaT, and FASTEST, is co-organising the introductory webinar of the TwinBATT Cluster, an initiative with four Horizon Europe projects to drive innovation in battery testing and advance sustainable energy solutions across Europe.

This session marks the official launch of the cluster's joint activities and offers a unique opportunity to hear firsthand from the project coordinators behind each initiative. Attendees will gain exclusive insights into advances in digitalisation, virtualisation, and smart testing protocols.

As projects under the Horizon Europe programme, they are a sample of the battery research in Europe. Each of the cluster's projects brings a unique strength to this shared mission:

  • DigiBatt is accelerating battery testing with cutting-edge digital tools and advanced physical workflows, reducing testing time by 30% and lowering costs by 20%. With a strong emphasis on open-source tools, DigiBatt is building a more connected, innovative future for global battery testing communities.
  • THOR revolutionises battery development by deploying Digital Twin technology to simulate battery behavior in virtual environments. This drastically reduces the need for costly and time-consuming physical tests, helping to accelerate product development for both mobility and stationary storage applications.
  • AccCellBaT pioneers the use of virtualisation, front-loading, and continuous validation and verification (V&V) to optimise battery design. By developing a novel V&V toolset and process manual, validated by manufacturers in the automotive and stationary battery sectors, AccCellBaT cuts costs and speeds up time-to-market.
  • FASTEST introduces a fast-track hybrid testing platform that integrates physical and virtual testing using advanced Design of Experiments (DoE) strategies. This robust, multi-scale approach enables the development of more reliable, safer, and longer-lasting battery systems while increasing efficiency in global test facilities.

By forming the TwinBATT Cluster, these four projects are uniting under a shared vision: to drive battery innovation and sustainability through coordinated outreach, collaborative research, and joint events such as webinars and workshops. The cluster fosters pioneering collaboration and lays the groundwork for new standards in battery testing and validation that will support Europe's green energy transition.

Join us for this inaugural event and be part of shaping Europe's next chapter in battery innovation.
