The SSTAR project Improves Power Sector Performance through Grid Technology Innovations
SSTAR's latest brochure highlights key achievements in efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability to support the transition toward greener power grids
The SSTAR project is transforming energy distribution by delivering tangible innovations that enhance the efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability of power grids. Through advanced transformer design, eco-friendly insulation materials, and intelligent control systems, SSTAR strengthens both the performance and resilience of modern grids.
Key Achievements
· High-Voltage SST Prototype—Development of a Medium Frequency Ttransformer with superior voltage isolation and thermal management.
· Biobased Dielectric Fluids—Pilot-scale production of a biodegradable insulation fluid, fully validated to international standards, offering a safer, greener alternative to conventional transformer oils.
· Decentralized Converter Control—Implementation of an advanced and scalable grid converter, enabling scalability of the control for high voltage applications and balancing serialized converters.
These milestones represent a significant step forward in creating smarter and more sustainable energy infrastructures.
To share these results with the wider community, SSTAR has released a new brochure showcasing the project's breakthroughs and their impact on the future of energy distribution.
The brochure is now available for download here.
