Horizon Europe-funded projects united for a climate-resilient and inclusive built environment
Seven Horizon Europe-funded projects—CARMINE, CLIMRES, MAIA, MINORITY REPORT, MULTICARE, MULTICLIMACT, and RETIME—have launched a Joint Manifesto on the Resilience of the Built Environment in 2025 , marking a new milestone in joint efforts for climate resilience.
United by a shared mission and a deep commitment to building climate resilience, inclusivity, and sustainability across Europe, these seven projects have formed a dedicated cluster. Through this alliance, they coordinate efforts to amplify the impact of individual innovations and deliver greater value to society as a whole. By joining forces, this cluster demonstrates that together we are stronger—building not only resilient environments but also deeper connections among people, communities, and fresh ideas for a better future.
A Shared Vision for Europe's Future
The signatories envision a future-proof built environment that is inclusive and adaptive to climate risks. The manifesto underscores a commitment to:
-
Strengthening local and systemic resilience
- Bridging cutting-edge scientific innovation tools applied across 31 real-world pilot sites in Europe
- Ensuring that every community is included and supported in the climate-smart transition
Common Principles and Objectives
Grounded in shared values of inclusivity, transparency, mutual benefit, scientific rigor, and sustainability, the cluster is committed to:
-
Knowledge Exchange: Sharing tools, data, and frameworks to enhance interoperability
- Joint Dissemination: Coordinating communication, conferences, and media outreach
- Policy Engagement: Co-developing recommendations aligned with EU strategies
- Standardization & Harmonization: Exploring synergies in methods, indicators, and risk models
- Community Empowerment: Advancing citizen-led co-creation through participatory and iterative approaches
Aligned with EU Vision and Potential Impact
The manifesto reaffirms the projects' alignment with the European Green Deal, the Horizon Europe Missions on Climate, Cities, and Resilience, and the principles of Open Science and the New European Bauhaus.
