Jupiter to 'star' at astronomy open house

Did you know that Jupiter has a family? And that you’ll be able to meet “the gang” at the free Astronomy Open House Dec. 3, at Arizona State University’s Tempe campus?

The telescopes will be turned on Jupiter - the fifth planet from the sun - and its Galilean moons, Io, Europe, Ganymede and Callisto - as well as the double cluster in Perseus.

The open house will take place from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., on the 5th floor (roof) of the Bateman Physical Sciences Center H-Wing, on ASU’s Tempe campus.

In addition to telescope viewing, there will be a meteorite display, a GEOClub rock show, planetarium show, poster display and a cloud chamber that detects cosmic rays from space.

Free parking is available after 7 p.m., in the Tyler Street Parking Structure.
