New infographic and video series present pioneering operational models for construction sector workflows and safety
The BEEYONDERS project provides a visual overview of how its technologies were implemented and validated in real construction environments.
Concluding in May 2026, the EU-funded project BEEYONDERS has delivered a portfolio of breakthrough technologies aimed at transforming traditional workflows in the construction sector. At the core of this shift is a redefined operational model, presented in a new, detailed infographic produced by project partner ICONS.
Focused on road construction, the infographic illustrates how autonomous and teleoperated machinery, drone‑based surveying and a central digital twin operate as one coordinated system. Based on tests on the A24 Highway near L'Aquila, Italy, it shows clear benefits on site: After using the new workflow, workers felt 20% safer on average, while machinery produced 13% less CO₂ thanks to AI‑assisted optimisation.
"This visual overview makes the project's approach immediately tangible", says Fabrizio Federici, project manager at AISCAT Servizi and responsible for the Italian use case. "It brings into view how daily planning, data integration and autonomous operations unite on site to deliver both real safety improvements and measurable environmental gains".
Similar workflows have been implemented across several other use cases in Europe and are documented in a dedicated video series featuring technologies in action and first-hand testimonies from site operators. The full collection is available on the project website and in a compilation on its official channel.
"Each video captures a real moment on site, showing not only how the technologies function but how people engage with them in practice", says Davide Valenti, Communication Officer at ICONS and BEEYONDERS dissemination manager. "These short films give a voice and a face to the many individuals involved in this joint effort as the project nears its conclusion".
The infographic and videos showcase the impact of BEEYONDERS technologies and the joint effort behind them, demonstrating a safer, smarter and more sustainable way of working on construction sites.
Background:
Funded by the European Commission, BEEYONDERS aims to advance the European construction sector through robotics, additive manufacturing, and digital twins. The project seeks to improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability, while reducing environmental impact and strengthening Europe's technological independence.
