The Answer: Best of the Bayou Raises Support for Life-Changing Research at Pennington Biomedical
On Friday, March 27, supporters of LSU's Pennington Biomedical Research Center gathered with a shared purpose: to advance research that is changing lives.
The Answer: Best of the Bayou welcomed supporters, partners and friends to L'Auberge Casino and Hotel Event Center for an evening that reflected both the spirit of Louisiana and the power of scientific discovery.
The evening began with a lively reception, where conversations flowed, silent auction bids were placed and anticipation built for the night ahead. The silent auction quickly became a focal point, with guests exploring a wide array of items and experiences, each bid contributing to research that is improving lives in Louisiana and around the world.
As the program began, Dr. Jennifer Rood, Pennington Biomedical's Interim Senior Vice Chancellor and Executive Director, welcomed guests and set the tone for the evening, emphasizing the importance of continued investment in research to address some of today's most pressing health challenges.
Guests heard from Dr. Amanda Staiano, who shared how her work in pediatric obesity and health behavior reflects the breadth and impact of research at Pennington Biomedical. Melissa Martin, Director of Greaux Healthy, spoke about the power of community-based programs to extend that impact beyond the lab and across Louisiana.
Throughout the evening, emcee Todd Henry guided the program with energy and warmth, while live auctioneer Chad Sabadie inspired generous participation in support of Pennington Biomedical's mission.
From spirited rounds of trivia to the excitement of the live auction, the evening was filled with moments of laughter, connection and shared purpose. Congratulations to the trivia winners, "Bay You on the Bayou," whose knowledge and teamwork earned top honors. Guests also embraced the Best of the Bayou theme with creativity and enthusiasm. Trisha Gegenheimer was recognized as Female Best Dressed, and Rhett Spano as Male Best Dressed. Wireless Services earned Best Decorated Table honors for the third consecutive year.
Across every table, there was a clear sense that this gathering represented something bigger than a single event.
It represented impact.
That impact was made possible through the generosity of sponsors at every level, including the Pennington Family Foundation as the evening's presenting sponsor, along with a remarkable group of community partners who helped bring the evening to life.
Behind the scenes, the leadership of The Answer Committee, chaired by Lauren Coco, ensured that every detail reflected the excellence and vision of Pennington Biomedical.
For nearly 40 years, Pennington Biomedical has been at the forefront of discoveries that shape how we understand and improve human health. From pioneering the DASH diet to supporting the development of FDA-approved treatments for obesity and diabetes, the Center's work continues to influence lives across Louisiana and around the world.
Events like The Answer help make that work possible.
Because of the generosity of those in the room and those who participated from afar, research will continue. Breakthroughs will continue. Lives will continue to be changed.
As the evening came to a close, one thing was clear.
The Answer is not just an event. It is a community.
A community of people choosing to invest in science, in discovery, and in a healthier future for all.
To be the reason progress continues. To be the reason lives are changed. To Be The Answer.
