Global Health Metrics and Evaluation Conference

February 1st, 2011

What: Top global health experts bring bold ideas, vigorous debate to Global Health Metrics & Evaluation Conference

When: March 14-16, 2011

Where: The Westin Seattle, 1900 5th Ave., Seattle, Washington, USA

Join researchers, policymakers, and global health leaders from around the world to share groundbreaking advances in health measurement and tackle contentious debates at the first conference of its kind, "Global Health Metrics & Evaluation: Controversies, Innovation, Accountability."

At a crucial time, when global health funding may drop for the first time in two decades, the conference brings together all the disciplines involved in global health measurement and evaluation under one roof to find the best ways to translate data into cost-effective policy for improved population health.

Journalists and conference attendees will be the first to hear new findings in HIV treatment, malaria control, disparities in cancer survival, and other important work. Come listen to debates over scientific controversies and learn about innovative methods from the researchers who created them. Policymakers will share how health metrics are being transformed into effective health interventions, and journalists will have the chance to try cutting-edge tools to make sense of health data, such as mapping software and data visualizations.

GHME is co-hosted by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), The Lancet, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Harvard School of Public Health, and University of Queensland School of Population Health. We are excited to have you join us and will provide you updates, including a full list of speakers and potential news stories, in the weeks leading up to the conference.
