Chemists in love: Strategies and tactics for a dual-career relationship
Managing a dual-career relationship is the topic of the next in a series of American Chemical Society (ACS) Webinars™ for scientists and chemical professionals.
Scheduled for Thursday, Feb.10, from 2 - 3 p.m. EST, the free Webinar features chemists Al and Carolyn Ribes, and Sarah Tolbert and Benjamin Schwartz, who will discuss how to have successful careers and relationships.
Participants will learn to:
- Understand individual and shared values
- Set and agree on priorities
- Find an optimal work-life balance
- Establish boundaries - when to set them and when to let lines blur
- Create opportunities for the "trailing spouse"
Tolbert and Schwartz are an academic couple at U.C.L.A. Sarah received a Ph.D. in materials physical chemistry from U.C. Berkeley. Ben received a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from U.C. Berkeley. After postdoctoral work at U.C. Santa Barbara, they joined the faculty at U.C.L.A.
