Preview of oral presentations at the 1st IOF-ESCEO Pre-Clinical Symposium

February 23rd, 2011

Registrants to the largest European clinical and research bone meeting - the European Congress on Osteoporosis & Osteoarthritis (ECCEO11-IOF) from March 23-26, 2011 - will receive free registration to the 1st IOF-ESCEO Pre-Clinical Symposium from March 22-23.

The IOF-ESCEO Pre-Clinical Symposium showcases new research at the cutting edge of basic and translational bone science. It will feature:

  • Eight plenary lectures by speakers E. Wagner, J.-P. David, A. Teti, Ph. Clézardin, M. Kassem, P. Bianco, T. Schinke and G. Karsenty
  • Meet-the-Faculty sessions: How to write a grant, C. Cooper; How to write a manuscript, G. Karsenty; How to build up a lecture, E. Wagner; Women in academic careers, A. Teti
  • Twenty-eight selected oral presentations (7 hours!).

Here's a sneak preview of 10 of the 28 orals and speakers:

  • DLK1/FA1 regulates the early chondrogenesis during embryonic endochondral bone formation process and its expression is modulated by TGF-β1 signaling pathway - B. Abdallah
  • Genetic variation in the LRP4 gene influences bone mineral density and hip geometry while missense mutations cause sclerosteosis - E. Piters
  • Sclerostin antibody treatment enhances fracture healing and
increases bone mass and strength in non-fractured bones in an
adult rat closed femoral fracture model - H. Ke
  • Genome wide association study identifies seven loci that account for 86% of the
population attributable risk of paget's disease of bone - O. Albagha
  • Glucocorticoids suppress bone formation by attenuating
osteoblast differentiation via the monomeric glucocorticoid receptor - J. Tuckermann
  • MicroRNA-138 targets focal adhesion kinase and regulates In Vivo - M. Kassem
  • Control of bone resorption by semaphorin 4D is dependent on ovarian function - I. Machuca-Gayet
  • Iron overload stimulates osteoclast differentiation of murine osteoclast progenitor RAW 264.7 Through the production of reactive oxygen species - J. Peng
  • MHC class II transactivator: a novel regulator of osteoclast differentiation and bone homeostasis co-opted from adaptive immunity - S. Cenci
  • Strontium ranelate inhibits key factors affecting bone remodelling in human osteoarthritic subchondral bone osteoblasts - J. Martel-Pelletier
