Scientist unveils ways to outsmart diseases

Winning the war against germs that cause disease takes inventiveness since these microbes evolve much faster than we do. Kathyrn Sykes, Ph.D., a scientist at the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University, will share approaches taken in the past and current efforts in science to outsmart microbes and prevent disease from 1:45-2:15 p.m., May 21, at the Arizona Science Center All About Me Biogalleries.

The interactive presentation “Let’s Outsmart Diseases” is a fun educational session that is part of a family-friendly series designed to stimulate conversation and inquiry on topics related to the bioscience. The Bio Buzz Family Series was made possible through a five-year Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA) from the National Center for Research Resources at the National Institutes of Health. This program will give students and the general public a glimpse into the human body, its’ parts and processes, and new advances in biomedical research and technology.
