Dubai to host largest clinical bone meeting in the Middle East and Africa region
Healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders from throughout the Middle-East and Africa will gather in Dubai for the largest clinical bone meeting ever held in the region.
The meeting, to be held from October 19-22, 2011, is hosted by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) in cooperation with experts from 16 national osteoporosis societies in the region. Further information is available at

A comprehensive scientific programme has been developed to meet many interests across the bone spectrum, with topics of relevance to a broad range of clinicians, including endocrinologists, rheumatologists, gynecologists, rehabilitation experts, orthopaedists, general practitioners and Allied Health professionals. Leading international and regional expert speakers will present at thirteen plenary lectures, five Meet-the-Expert sessions, an Orthopaedic Roundtable and five satellite symposia.
The event will also give osteoporosis researchers an international platform to present their work in oral and poster presentations, with abstracts published in the top-ranked journal 'Osteoporosis International'.
Online abstract submission deadline is June 17, 2011.
Five prestigious awards valued at 1,000 USD each will be offered to the top ranked abstracts by young investigators aged 40 or younger.
In conjunction with the meeting, IOF will launch an audit report outlining the burden and status of osteoporosis in the Middle-East and Africa. Compiling the latest epidemiological research from 20 countries, the landmark report will be the first of its kind for the region.
