Stevens selected to host 2012 IEEE SAM Workshop

Stevens Institute of Technology has recently been announced as host of the IEEE 2012 Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing Workshop (SAM 2012). The biennial SAM Workshop will be held on Stevens campus in Hoboken, New Jersey on June 17-20, 2012. The call for papers is now open, with a submission deadline of December 2.

The SAM Workshop is a meeting of the IEEE dedicated to discussing state-of-the-art developments in the field of sensor array and multichannel signal processing. Past instances of the workshop have been held in Israel, Germany, Spain, and other major US cities. As in previous years, SAM 2012 will feature paper presentations, special topic sessions, and plenary speakers.

"We believe Stevens provides a great environment for the global IEEE community to gather and share the latest research while also taking advantage of all the extra-curricular opportunities made available by Stevens proximity to New York City," says Dr. Hongbin Li of Stevens, who is Co-Chair of SAM 2012 along with Dr. Xiaodong Wang of Columbia University.

The rest of the SAM 2012 Committee is comprised of Technical Co-Chairs Antonio De Maio, Rabinder N. Madan, and Peter Willett; Finance Chair Nathan A. Goodman; Publication Chair Hongya Ge; and Local Organization Chair Pu Wang.

"With faculty working on the cutting edge of signal processing, cognitive and software-defined radio, wireless communications, and network security, Stevens has positioned itself at the forefront of research and education in these fields," says Dr. Yu-Dong Yao, Director of Stevens Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Research contracts and awards from the National Science Foundation, National Institute of Justice, Air Force Office of Sponsored Research, and the Department of Defense fund projects that advance technology with benefits to public safety and infrastructure as well as commercialization potential.
