Scott & White Healthcare CEO named to national list of physician leaders

Robert W. Pryor, M.D., president and CEO of Scott & White Healthcare, is the only physician in Central Texas and one of 65 nationally to be named to Becker's Hospital Review annual list of Physician Leaders of Hospitals and Health Systems. With their array of experience in medicine and management, these men and women represent some of the brightest leadership in the health care industry.

According to Becker's, physician leaders make up an exceptional niche in health care. This unique role has only been emphasized with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which incites hospitals to reduce costs while improving the quality of care and patient experience.

"Scott & White has a rich history of delivering innovative, patient-centered, accountable health care of the highest quality and we're poised to serve as a model for improving the health of our communities," said Dr. Pryor. "It's a privilege to lead Scott & White during this critical juncture in our industry."

Dr. Pryor is a Temple, Texas native who is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, as well as a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and The American College of Critical Care Medicine. A graduate of Baylor University in Waco, Dr. Pryor received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed a pediatric internship and residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, and a pediatric intensive care medicine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Physician leaders were selected for inclusion on this list based on nominations, inclusion in previous Becker's Hospital Review lists, and research conducted by the Becker's editorial team.
