Reclamation to host training on concrete construction methods and repair techniques

August 3rd, 2011

The Bureau of Reclamation's Technical Service Center will hold its Concrete and Concrete Repair School on November 1 - 3, 2011, in Denver, Colo., to provide instruction in concrete and concrete repair techniques and needs common throughout Reclamation. The course is open to anyone and will cost $1,150.

The course is intended for engineers, technicians, specification writers, technical project managers, and other staff associated with construction and repair of water resource structures.

Students who attend the Concrete and Concrete Repair School will learn concrete construction methods to include quality evaluation of concrete aggregates, concrete materials testing, new construction practices, techniques for repairing existing concrete structures, causes of concrete damage, and methods to identify causes of damage.

They will also gain familiarity with materials used such as chemical and mineral admixtures and standard and non-standard repair materials. Ample time will be made available for hands-on exercises that will ensure each student develops knowledge of how to apply the learning experience to problems encountered in the field.

The course is limited to the first 30 people and seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
