New impact factor of European Urology underlines journal's outstanding position

European Urology, the official journal of the European Association of Urology (EAU), has a newly released impact factor of 6.512.

This was announced in the Journal Citation Reports® 2009, published by Thomson Reuters.

"The journal has been a respected urological forum for over 20 years and is currently read by more than 15,000 urologists across the globe," Prof. Francesco Montorsi, Editor-in-Chief, points out.

The Platinum Journal offers its readers and authors high quality papers, fast response and international profile. To keep up with the rapidly evolving world of medicine, technology and surgical techniques, European Urology is constantly updating and innovating its features and layout in order to provide the best clinical guidance, research and education for urologists across Europe and around the world. The impact factor, often abbreviated IF, is a measure of the citations to scientific journals. The IF of a journal is calculated based on a two-year period. It can be viewed as the average number of citations in a year given to those papers in a journal that were published during the two preceding years. It is frequently used as a proxy for the importance of a journal to its field.

Prof. Montorsi also emphasizes the fact that the success of the Platinum Journal is directly related to the success of the EAU. "The growth and progress of the EAU has always had a major impact on the prosperity of European Urology."
