AIUM 2012 Annual Convention rolls out comprehensive spectrum of ultrasound programming

December 13th, 2011

Registration is open for the 2012 American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) Annual Convention and Preconvention Program to be held in Phoenix, Arizona, March 29–April 1, 2012, at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort. Attendees will have the opportunity to earn more than 30 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (accepted by the ARDMS) or ARRT Category A Credits over 4 days. The program will offer an exceptional selection of sessions uniquely geared toward all specialties and disciplines with an interest in medical ultrasound.

"The number one comment I hear," says Annual Convention Committee Chair Rochelle F. Andreotti, MD, "is that the AIUM convention is the only place where I can sit down with all specialties and have great discussions, something not available within my own college."

The Preconvention Program will take place on March 29, 2012, and will have courses that provide in-depth coverage of ultrasound topics and allow attendees to earn up to 7 CME credits. The program offers 3 full-day courses covering cardiovascular ultrasound, emergency and critical care ultrasound, and musculoskeletal ultrasound and 6 half-day courses covering fetal echocardiography, general ultrasound, gynecology, obstetrics, infertility and reproductive medicine, and pediatric ultrasound.

The Annual Convention begins Friday, March 30, 2012. Highlights of the convention include Three-and Four-Dimensional Volume Data Set Manipulation Sessions, Comprehensive Refresher Sessions, Just Images Sessions, and Hands-on Special Interest Sessions. "We're excited about the new, innovative learning formats, including a variety of general ultrasound and specialty topics with breakout sessions offering new educational opportunities for our entire membership," said AIUM Annual Convention Committee Vice Chair Joan Mastrobattista, MD.

The Exhibit Hall is a celebrated component of the convention every year, incorporating live scanning demonstrations and access to company experts. A diverse group of manufactures and other ultrasound-related organizations, including several first-time exhibitors, have signed on to showcase cutting-edge technology, services, and products to AIUM convention attendees.

The AIUM will once again incorporate the use of social media tools during the convention to provide a platform for the sharing of information. Convention-related messages, pictures, and videos can be posted on Twitter using hashtag #AIUM12, as well as on the AIUM's Facebook page.
