AADR presents honorary membership to Richard H. Carmona

The American Association for Dental Research (AADR) is announcing the 2012 recipient of honorary membership at the 41st AADR Annual Meeting & Exhibition in Tampa, Florida on March 21, 2012. The 2012 Honorary Membership is given to Dr. Richard H. Carmona.

Carmona is being recognized for his efforts in spearheading the National Call to Action to Promote Oral Health in 2003 while he served as U.S. Surgeon General. Prior to being named Surgeon General, Dr. Carmona was the chairman of the State of Arizona Southern Regional Emergency Medical System, a professor of surgery, public health and family and community medicine at the University of Arizona, and the Pima County Sheriff's Department surgeon and deputy sheriff. Dr. Carmona is currently running for a U.S. Senate seat in Arizona.

"Dr. Carmona's commitment to oral health has benefited not only the public, but AADR and its members. He is very deserving of this honor and we are excited to welcome him to the Association as an honorary member."

AADR Honorary Membership is decided by the three most recent AADR past presidents and given to a person who has made significant contributions to and/or supports dental research.
