ABET names NJIT civil engineer and fellow to prestigious commission

A Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and university lecturer at NJIT, John A. Wiggins, of Union Township, was appointed for the 2012-2013 accreditation cycle to the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Wiggins will serve on the commission as a representative of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Wiggins teaches in the department of engineering technology in NJIT's Newark College of Engineering. A licensed Professional Engineer in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, he is also licensed in New Jersey as both a professional planner and attorney.

Before joining NJIT, Wiggins served as the municipal engineer and director of public works for several New Jersey municipalities. He has maintained an active professional practice in municipal engineering and since 1988 has been chair of the New Jersey Municipal Engineering Institute, a continuing education program designed to assist professional engineers in the practice of municipal engineering.
