Magnetic reconnection workshop at Princeton

May 21st, 2012

More than 70 physicists from seven countries will gather May 23-25 at Princeton University for the U.S.-Japan Workshop on Magnetic Reconnection. The three-day conference will take place from Wednesday, May 23, through Friday, May 25, in the Princeton Center for Theoretical Science in Jadwin Hall on the main campus. Scheduled speakers include Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory physicists Hantao Ji, who chairs the workshop, and Masaaki Yamada, who heads the Laboratory's Magnetic Reconnection Experiment.

"This meeting provides a place for people from different magnetic reconnection subfields to exchange new ideas and results," Ji said. Topics will include reconnection in solar plasmas, astrophysical systems and laboratory experiments, with a poster session scheduled to begin Wednesday at 4 p.m.
